Joel Petersson hits onto the 11 green at Palencia

Flagler finished in a tie for ninth place at the Argonaut Invite

PENSACOLA, Fla. – No. 42 (Golfstat Division II relative ranking) Flagler College finished in a tie for ninth place with a 16-over par 592 (301-291) at the Argonaut Invitational, which was played at the Pensacola Country Club (par 72; 6,858 yards).

The final round scheduled for 9 a.m. Central was cancelled due to heavy fog.

No. 7 University of West Florida, and the host school, leads the 17-team field with a 6-under 570 (289-281). They hold a seven-stroke lead over No. 34 Columbus State University (577) and No. 25 Limestone University (577). No. 10 Georgia Southwestern State University (579) follows in fourth place while No. 15 Lincoln Memorial University (581) sits in fifth place. Eleven of the 17 teams in the field are ranked in the top 45.

Leading the 93-man field is Charles Delong of Grand Valley State University. He shot an 8-under 136 (69-67) and holds a slim one-stroke lead over Kristoffer Larsson of Limestone. 

Joel Petersson leads the Flagler golfers with a 1-under 143 (72-71), which puts him in a tie for 12th place. Nic Whittaker carder a 4-over 148 (71-77) and is tied for 30th place. Nic Eberhard follows and is in a tie for 47th place with a 7-over 151 (75-76). Franco Piovano (+9) and Felix Villamil (+13) round out the team.  

Up next for the Saints is the Peach Belt Conference Championship April 21-23 at the Forest Hills Golf Course in Augusta, Georgia.
