AMERICUS, Ga. –
Jaiden Warde collected three singles, scored two runs, and drove in another but Flagler College allowed six late runs as Georgia Southwestern State University rallied for a 9-6 win in a Peach Belt Conference baseball game Saturday afternoon at Hurricane Stadium.
With the win, Georgia Southwestern has clinched at least a share of the PBC regular season title as it holds a 21-8 record. The Hurricanes are 28-17 overall. Flagler is now 18-29 overall and 12-17 in conference play. Due to Augusta University's 17-4 win over USC Beaufort today in the first game of a doubleheader, Augusta has clinched the No. 8 seed for the PBC Tournament.
The Saints trailed 3-0 going into the top of the fifth, but Warde's RBI-single and
Taylor Clapp's two-run single knotted the game at 3-all.
Donovan Garcia hit a two-run double to right field in the top of the sixth to put Flagler on top, 5-3.
In the home half of the sixth, Chris Patterson belted a two-run home run to tie the game.
Steven Reiss (2-1) came in to pitch for the Saints and he hit the first batter he faced. The next batter, Miles Hartsfield reached on a bunt single, but the throw from Warde at third base was wild and allowed Jake Blinstrub to score and give the Hurricanes the lead.
