ROME, Ga. –
Lexie Morton scored four goals and three assists, leading No. 11 (IWLCA Division II Top 25 Poll) Flagler College in its fifth Gulf South Conference win over Shorter University. The Saints outscored the Hawks 24-7, making this their 11th win in a row.
The Saints now sit 5-0 in GSC and 14-1 overall. Flagler has clinched at least a share of the regular season league title. The Hawks drop to 0-5 in conference play and 2-13 overall.
Morton kicked off the first quarter with two goals in a row. The Saints managed to hold off the Hawks a majority of the first quarter accept for a goal from Olivia Contento leaving the score 6-1 at the end of the quarter.
The Hawks managed to close the gap slightly the rest of the half and third quarter, but the Saints shut them out the entire fourth quarter.
Thirteen different Saints scored in this afternoon's game including a hat trick from
Katelyn Trainor. The Saints also carried defensively with
Ella Pinder winning six draw controls and
Claudia Tanksley following closely with five.
Anna Day led with two caused turnovers and Saints goalies
Lauren Ribadeneira,
Alex Eubanks, and
Grace Schwab had a save each.
The Saints will return on April 22 at 2 p.m. for their last regular season game against GSC opponent Lander University at Greenwood, South Carolina.
