No. 11 Saints take down Bearcats to become GSC regular season champs

GREENWOOD, S.C. – Lexie Morton broke No. 11 (IWLCA Division II Top 25 poll) Flagler College's program record for most goals scored in a single game with seven in their 21-16 Gulf South Conference win over Lander University.

The win was the Saints 12th win in a row bringing them to 15-1 overall and making them undefeated (6-0) in conference play and in turn GSC regular season champions.

Carley Tepel and Morton scored back-to-back goals near the end of the first half to give Flagler an 11-9 lead and the Saints would not trail again.

The Bearcats now sit 10-6 overall and 4-2 in GSC play. Although they were outscored in the end, Kelly Brooke had a stellar performance for the Bearcats, scoring six goals.

Tepel shined offensively for the Saints with five goals. Ella Pinder stood out with eight draw controls. Defensive stars for the Saints included Jenn Seebach with four ground balls, as well as Morton and Kaelyn Figueras causing two turnovers each. Lauren Ribadeneira managed to make eight saves while in goal for the Saints as well.
