ST. AUGUSTINE – The No. 5 (ITA Division II Collegiate Tennis Rankings) Flagler College women's tennis team shut out Augusta University 4-0 in a Peach Belt Conference women's tennis match at the Flagler Tennis Center Sunday morning.
Flagler improved to 16-4 overall and 7-0 in the Peach Belt. With the win, the Saints are the PBC regular season champions for the first time outright since joining the league in 2009-10. It's also the first time Flagler went undefeated in conference play. The last time Flagler won a regular season title was the Florida Sun Conference (NAIA) crown in 2000. The Saints shared the PBC regular season title last year. Augusta dropped to 9-12 overall and 1-5 in conference play.
The Saints won the two doubles matches to earn the first team point. No. 30-ranked
Luisa Hrda and
Dana Heimen cruised to a 6-1 win at No. 1 while
Florencia Massardo Brain and
Nadja Meier coasted to a 6-0 win at No. 3.

Nadja Meier extended her winning streak to 24 with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Andrea Gonzalez.
Laura Jipescu and
Charlotta Buss posted straight-set wins at Nos. 5 and 6 to end the match.
After the match, members of last year's team received their rings for winning a share of the league title and seniors
Luisa Hrda and
Florencia Massardo Brain were honored.
Flagler is the No. 1 seed heading into the Peach Belt Conference Tournament, April 21-23, at the Walden Tennis Center in Columbus, Georgia. The Saints will play the No. 8 seed Georgia Southwestern State University on Friday at 3 p.m.
