YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. –
Trace McDonald and
Antanas Mikuzis both scored hat tricks for Flagler College in its 16-10 win over Peach Belt Conference rival Young Harris College.
The Saints now sit at 4-8 overall and 2-0 in the Peach Belt. The Mountain Lions drop to 3-9 overall and 1-1 in conference play.
The Saints started strong in the first quarter, shutting out the Mountain Lions and scoring five unanswered goals from McDonald, Mikuzis,
Dylan Wilson and Tyler Douglas.
The Mountain Lions started to close the gap scoring five goals in the second quarter and trailed 7-5 at the end of the first half. The Saints managed to maintain their lead the rest of the game scoring nine more goals in the second half.
Despite being outscored in the end, Mountain Lions goalie Dylan Wilbur had a standout performance with 16 saves. Jacob Haas also shined with 13 faceoff wins.
The Saints defense held their own with goalie Nate Lehr making nine saves and
Paxton Crowell making four.
Jake Griffin came up with five ground balls and 11 faceoff wins for the Saints as well.
The Saints will return on April 8 at 2:30 p.m. for another PBC matchup as well as their "Senior Day" celebration against Shorter University.
