ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. –No. 31 (ITA Collegiate Division II rankings) Flagler College defeated No. 30 Tusculum University 6-1 in a non-conference men's tennis match Thursday afternoon at the Flagler Tennis Center.
Flagler improved to 6-4 while Tusculum slips to 5-4.
The Saints started by winning the doubles point thanks to No. 42
Nikita Tatyanin and
Jagger Ong-Patzwald's 6-3 win at No. 1.
Pavlos Parson and
Philipp Lemken won their match at No. 3 to start the doubles competition.
Flagler won four of the five singles matches in straight sets.
Jacopo Denitto's win at No. 2 clinched the match for the Saints. He defeated Nrmanja Subanovic 6-1 and 6-4, which was his fifth consecutive win. No. 32
Nikita Tatyanin edged No. 61 Rhodri Atkinson 6-2, 7-6(3). Parson won his match at No. 5 in a lengthy match – 7-6(6), 4-6, 10-6. Lemken's straight sets victory was his sixth consecutive single win.
The Saints' weekend in North Carolina has been washed out. The next scheduled match for Flagler will be March 17 against Thomas Jefferson University at 3 p.m. at the Flagler Tennis Center.
