Fry hits two home runs as Flagler sweeps doubleheader at Young Harris

ST. AUGUSTINE – Trinity Fry hit her first two home runs of her career to help power Flagler College to a doubleheader sweep of Young Harris College in a Peach Belt Conference twinbill Saturday afternoon at the YHC Softball Field. Flagler won the opener 10-4 and took the second game, 9-2.

Flagler improved to 7-9 overall and 4-1 in the Peach Belt. Young Harris dropped to 7-14 overall and 1-4 in league play.

That would be more than enough for Jordan Sheets (4-2) who scattered eight hits and allowed three earned runs in a complete game win. She fanned three and retired 14 batters on ground outs and two more on fly outs. Sheets retired 10 of the first 11 batters she faced.

Ari Bosch went 3-for-4 with a double and she scored two runs. Fry went 2-for-2 with a home run, four runs batted in, and she scored a pair of runs. Paige Maseda collected a pair of singles, scored a run and drove in a pair. Abbey O'Connor singled twice and drove in a run while Crump went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI.

Kylie Ferguson (3-6) allowed eight runs on 10 hits in five-plus innings of work to get the loss.

Hannah Rizzuto went 3-for-3 with a solo home run for the Mountain Lions.

In the second game, the Saints used a five-run third inning and added three more in the fourth to coast to the win.

Olivia Parker hit a two-run home run in the third while Maseda and Crump had RBI singles.

Fry socked a two-run home run to center field in the fourth.

Rachel Hester (3-2) scattered four hits and allowed two runs in the complete game victory. She walked two and struck out five while retiring nine batters on fly outs and seven more on ground outs. Hester set down 14 of the first 17 batters she faced.

Jordan Moss went 2-for-3 with a triple, and she scored three runs for Flagler. Crump finished with a pair of singles, she scored a run and drove in another. Fry went 1-for-3 with the home run, three RBI and two runs scored.

Grace Young (1-3) took the loss in the circle for Young Harris. She surrendered five runs on four hits in 2.2 innings.
