ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla.- Flagler College lost 7-0 to the University of North Georgia in a conference game on Sunday afternoon at Flagler Field.
The Saints (12-20 overall, 7-8 PBC) connected on three hits during the game.
Mackenzie Smith singled up the left side in the second inning. In the third inning,
Paige Maseda singled through the right side, followed by a single from
Abbey O'Connor.
Mallory Forrester (0-4) took the loss for the Saints after pitching seven innings. The freshman gave up 10 hits and walked five batters. Forrester has three strikeouts and induced nine fly outs and six ground outs.
Top-ranked (NFCA Division II Top 25 ) North Georgia (34-1,15-0) added their first run off Jolie Lester in the first inning. A home run from Mariah Wicker in the second inning made the score 2-0. In the fourth inning, Wicker scored off a single from Sydney Blair. The Nighthawks scored again off Blair after a Lester single.
Sophie Mooney hit a home run to center field to make the score 5-0 in the fifth inning. Blair scored on a muffed throw. Hannah Forehand concluded the scoring in the seventh inning with a home run to left field.
Delaney Heaberlin (10-0) earned the win for the Nighthawks after tossing seven scoreless innings and she scattered three hits with five strikeouts.
Next, the Saints will travel to Columbus, Georgia to face Columbus State University on April 1-2.
