Saints swept by Tars in a doubleheader

St. Augustine, Fla.- Paige Maseda's home run highlighted Flagler College softball's 3-1 loss in a game two of a non-conference doubleheader against Rollins College at Flagler Field on Tuesday.

Mesada homered to left field at the bottom of the sixth inning to put the Saints (12-17) within two at 3-1. Maseda went 1-for-3 during play.

Rachel Hester (5-5) took the loss after five innings, giving up three runs and five hits. The sophomore walked two batters and induced four fly outs and six ground outs.

Rollins (20-11) put up their three runs early in the game. The Tars took advantage of a Flagler error to secure their first run at 1-0 by Ashley Troutman. In the second inning, Taylor Hartman secured the Tars second run on a fly out. Grace Germer's single to third base plated Kaeli Zahradnik to conclude the scoring.

Hartman (5-0) secured the win for the Tars after pitching four innings and giving up one hit.

The Saints lost 4-0 in game one.

Jordan Sheets (6-5) took the loss for the Saints after pitching two innings and giving up three hits and one run. The Freshman walked two batters, had one strikeout and induced five ground outs.

Madelyn Wise pitched three innings, giving up four hits and three runs during the game. The junior had five strikeouts.
Mallory Forrester pitched one inning and gave up one hit.

Rollins put up one run during the third inning off a Flagler error and Germer scored. Troutman added a home run in the fifth inning to make the score 2-0. In the sixth inning, Troutman connected on a double to allow Sarah Young and Emma Gipple to score.

Emily MacMullen (11-7) earned the win for the Tars after pitching seven innings. MacMullen gave up five hits.

Next, the Saints will host the University of North Georgia in a three-game series on March 25-26.
