MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – The No. 13 (Golfstat Division II relative ranking) Flagler College women's golf team finished in seventh place with a 62-over par 914 (320-288-306) at the Buccaneer Invitational, which ended on Tuesday at the Miami Shores Country Club (par 71; 6,001 yards).
Stella Jelinek finished in third place, which is her seventh top five finish of the year. She carded a 6-over 219 (75-68-76) and finished six shots behind the medalist. Jelinek finished with eight birdies and 24 pars.
No. 3 Nova Southeastern University topped the 12-team field with a 20-over 872 (297-293-302). The Sharks won by 19 strokes. No. 11 University of Indianapolis finished a distant second with a 39-over 891 (295-300-296). No. 22 Barry University and No. 28 Eckerd tied for third place with a 51-over 903. Top-ranked Lynn University finished in fifth place with a 55-over 907. Nine of the teams in the field are ranked in the Golfstat relative ranking top 30.
Ellen Andersson of Nova Southeastern edged out Amelie Alcantara of Eckerd for medalist honors. Andersson topped the 68-woman field with an even par 213 (70-67-77). Alcantara finished one stroke back with a 1-over 214 (70-70-74).
Jordyn Hodgson finished in a tie for 22
nd place with a 17-over 230 (82-70-78).
Sophie Wheeler followed in a four-way tie for 29
th place with a 19-over 232 (81-74-77).
Fernanda Lacaz carded a 22-over 235 (82-78-75) for finish in a tie for 38
th place while
Marietta Ruhl shot a 36-over.
Flagler plays its final regular season tournament April 3-4, the Lynn Invitational, at the Boca Woods Country Club in Boca Raton, Florida.
