No. 3 Saints run ended by No. 20 Jennies in the national semis

BOULDER CITY, Nev. – The No. 3 (SCOREBOARD Division II ranking by clippd) Flagler College women's golf team had its incredible season come to an end with a 3-2 loss to No. 20 University of Central Missouri 3-2 in the NCAA Division II National Tournament medal match play semifinal round this afternoon at the Boulder Creek Golf Club's Desert Hawk Coyote Run course.

This was Flagler's second consecutive appearance at the NCAA Division II National Championship and both years the Saints made it to the medal match play round. Central Missouri advances to tomorrow's championship match against either Dallas Baptist University or Anderson University.

Jordyn Hodgson and Stella Jelinek won both of Flagler's points.

Hodgson finished with a 1-under 71 to edge Libby Green who had an even par 72. Both golfers traded wins on the first two holes as Green birdied the first hole and Hodgson birdied the second hole. Hodgson followed that up with a par on the third hole while Green had a bogey. On hole No. 5, Green finished with a birdie to tie the score. Hodgson broke the tie with a birdie on the par-3, No. 8 hole. She increased her lead to two strokes with a par on No. 11, but Green birdied the par-3, No. 12 hole while Hodgson finished with a bogey to tie the score. Hogson took the lead back with a birdie on the par-4, No. 15 hole and never relinquished the lead.

Jelinek won her match with a 1-over 73. Nicole Rallo finished with a 4-over 76 for the Jennies. Jelinek led almost the entire way on the front side and held a two-stroke lead at the turn with an even par 36. She maintained the lead on the back and held a three-stroke advantage over the last five holes.

Mia Rallo (+2) defeated Tabitha Hanely (+4). Maya McVey (-1) knocked off Henriette Stranda (E) by one stroke. She held a two-stroke advantage going into the final hole. Kiki Bruner (E) defeated Victoria Veator (+6).
