WINGATE, N.C. – The No. 12 (ITA Division II Collegiate Tennis Rankings) Flagler College women's tennis team romped over No. 35 Wingate University 6-1 in a non-conference match at the Wingate Tennis Complex Wednesday afternoon.
Flagler improved to 7-3 and won its fifth match in a row. Wingate had its two-match win streak snapped and dropped to 6-2.
Luisa Hrda and
Dana Heimen wrapped up the doubles point for Flagler with a 6-3 win at No. 1.
Nadja Meier and
Eryka Kruk won at No. 2 doubles to start the day.
The Saints won five of the six singles matches, and all five were straight-set wins. Meier, ranked No. 6 in the nation, defeated No. 48 Gaya Solomon 7-5 and 6-0 to clinch the match. Just before Meier's match completed, No. 5 Hrda coasted to a 6-2, 6-2 win. No. 53 Kruk, No. 56 Heimen and
Charlotta Buss posted wins.
Flagler hosts No. 19 Washburn University on Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Flagler Tennis Center.
