ST. AUGUSTINE –
Eryka Kruk's win at #4 singles clinched the match for No. 12 (ITA Division II Collegiate Tennis Rankings) Flagler College in a 4-3 victory over No. 19 Washburn University in a non-conference match at the Flagler Tennis Center Sunday afternoon.
Flagler extended its winning streak to six matches and improved to 8-3 overall. Washburn had its three-match winning streak snapped and fell to 8-3.
The Ichabods won the doubles point thanks to wins at #2 and #3.
Dana Heimen and
Luisa Hrda shut out their opponents, 6-0.
The Saints took a 2-1 lead in the match after wins by Nada Meier and
Charlotta Buss. Meier, ranked No. 6 in the nation, defeated No. 32 Maja Jung 6-1 and 6-3. Heimen, ranked No. 56, gave Flagler a 3-2 lead and then Kruk followed with her straight-sets win. The finals singles match went to Washburn.
Flagler hosts Palm Beach Atlantic University on Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the Flagler Tennis Center.
