Saints swept by Lady Canes in a doubleheader

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla.- Cassidy Crump's two-run homer was the highlight of the day for Flagler College, as Georgia Southwestern State University swept the Saints 3-2 and 8-0 in a Peach Belt Conference doubleheader Saturday at Lady Canes Field.
 
In game one, Paige Maseda put the Saints (9-13, 4-5) on second base with a single to center field and a stolen base. Cassidy Crump followed with a home run to right field to plate Maseda, tying the score 2-2.
 
With runners at first and second, a single to the shortstop plated Georgia Southwestern's Jacie Johns to conclude the scoring at 3-2.
 
Rachel Hester (3-3) took the loss for the Saints after pitching six innings and giving up seven hits and three runs. The sophomore walked two batters and had two strikeouts and induced 13 fly outs and three ground outs.
 
Mallory Forrester started in the middle for the Saints in game two. The freshman gave up three hits, four runs and walked four batters.
 
Jordan Sheets pitched three innings, giving up six hits, four hits and walked one batter. The freshman had two strikeouts and induced one fly out and six ground outs.
 
During game two, the Canes did most of their scoring in the first inning at 4-0. Georgia Southwestern added two more runs in both the second and fourth inning to close out the game.

Next, Flagler will travel to Fort Lauderdale, Florida to face Nova Southeastern University on March 15 in a nonconference doubleheader.
