DAYTONA BEACH, Fla.- The Flagler College softball team fell to Limestone University 4-3 and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University 5-4 in the Flagler Invitational opening tournament on Saturday at Radiology Associates Field.

Kathryn Grant said. "There was a lot to be proud of, as well as some things we need to improve on."
In game one against Limestone (1-1),
Madelyn Childs put the Saints (0-2) on the board in the seventh inning after a two RBI double to left field. Flagler trailed 3-2 after the sophomore plated
Ari Bosch and
Kiersten James.
During play, Childs went three for five at the plate, while Bosch went four for six.
Mercedes Salinas followed with a single up the middle, earning an RBI off
Courtney Robinson to tie the game 3-3.
Madelyn Wise (0-1) took the loss for Flagler after pitching 158 balls in 10 innings. The junior pitched seven scoreless innings and gave up 13 hits, four runs and walked five batters.
Limestone was the first to score at the top of the sixth after Jaylin Adkins reached home on a Flagler fielding error to make it 1-0.
In the seventh, Santana Anderson connected on a double to right field making it 3-0, driving home Faith Callaway and Katie Wilbur. Limestone added their last run with a single to left field from Kerrigan Thornton to plate Skylar Page.
In game two, Childs' home run to left field in the second inning put the Saints up 1-0.
At the bottom of the seventh, Embry-Riddle held the lead to 5-1.
With three runners on base,
Courtney Robinson was walked to advance
Stephanie Youngblood home. The Saints trailed 5-3 after a sacrifice fly to left field from James to send home
Madison Vogel.Flagler added its last run after Robinson went home on a wild pitch.
During play,
Mallory Forrester (0-1) pitched six innings and gave up seven hits, five runs and walked two batters.
Jordan Sheets pitched the seventh inning and gave up two hits.
Embry-Riddle matched the Saints 1-1 at the top of the third with a single to left field from Mia Macchia, batting in Katriana Bain.
In the fourth inning the Eagles took the lead, 2-1, after an RBI single from Delaney Morgan to plate Leah Oberkehr. A single off a bunt from Kelsey Kressler sends Morgan home to make it 3-1. The Eagles added one more run from Raissa Bianco after Ashton Ayock's sacrifice fly out to left field.
In the sixth inning, Kressler batted in Morgan with a sacrifice bunt to push their lead 5-1.
Next, the Flagler softball team will host the Old Coast Classic at home on Feb.10-12.
