ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla.- The Saints put up five runs in the sixth inning to win 7-2 over Emory & Henry College in the Old Coast Classic tournament at Flagler Field.
Ari Bosch kicked off the sixth inning with a single up the middle to plate
Cassidy Crump, putting Flagler (1-2) up 3-2.
Oliva Parker followed with a single to left field, allowing
Stephanie Youngblood to score. A wild pitch advanced Parker to third, while Bosch scored at 5-2.
Kiersten James hit a sacrifice bunt, plating Parker to make it 6-2. The Saints added their last run after
Paige Maseda connected on a triple to left field to send
Mercedes Salinas home.
In the first inning, Crump put the Saints on the board after reaching first base on a fielding error, earning an RBI by driving home Maseda.
Olivia Parker followed with a single RBI to the right field line, allowing O'Connor to score at 2-1.
Rachel Hester (1-0) took the win for Flagler and pitched five scoreless innings, giving up five hits.
The Wasps (0-2) started the scoring early in the first inning after Emily Scaggs singled to left field and earned an RBI to plate Kylie Holt. Emory & Henry earned their second run in the second inning after Mackenzie Williams scored on a wild pitch.
Flagler's game against Eckerd College was canceled due to field conditions. All Saturday games for the Old Coast Classic tournament have been canceled. The game schedule for Sunday will be announced Saturday afternoon.
After the Old Coast Classic tournament, the Saints will host Barry University in a double header on Wednesday, February 15.
