TAMPA, Fla. –
Tyler Douglass and
Jake Griffin led Flagler College with two goals each in tonight's matchup at No. 1 (USILA Division II Top 25) University of Tampa. Despite a valiant effort the Saints fell short 22-7 against the Spartans.
The Saints fell to 1-2 while the Spartans remained undefeated at 3-0.
The Spartans started off the game scoring within the first minute. However, the Saints came back right away with Douglass scoring a few seconds after. The Spartans managed to score seven unanswered goals to end the first quarter 1-8, Spartans, creating a lead they would not let up all game.
The Saints were able to score three goals in the second quarter from Douglass, Griffin, and
Antanas Mikuzis.
Garrett McNulty and
Dylan Wilson were also able to find the back of the net for the Saints tonight.
Despite the elevated score by the Spartans, Saints goalie
Nate Lehr had a notable performance making 16 saves.
Flagler returns to the Flagler Lacrosse Field Feb. 18 at 7 p.m. to face No. 14 Florida Institute of Technology.
