ST. AUGUSTINE –
Trace McDonald and
Garrett Moore scored two goals each for Flagler College in tonight's game against No. 14 (USILA Division II Top 25) Florida Tech. However, the Saints fell short 10-6 despite a good fight against the Panthers.
The Saints are now 1-3 overall as the Panthers even their record to 1-1.
The Saints started the first half strong with McDonald scoring the first goal of the game, later followed by goals from
Antanas Mikuzis,
John Kersey, and Moore ending the first half leading, 6-3.
However, the Saints relinquished their lead as the Panthers scored seven unanswered goals and their goalie Jax Francisco had a second half shut out, to finish the game. He finished with 14 saves. Nate Deplancke scored three goals for Florida Tech.
Despite the lead gained by the Panthers, on the defensive end, Saints goalie
Nate Lehr had 12 saves and
Blake Gonzalez had three caused turnovers.
Jake Griffin won 11 of the 18 face-offs he took for the Saints.
The Saints will now head south to Boca Raton for a match up against Lynn University on Feb. 25 at 2 p.m.
