ST. AUGUSTINE –
Sharale McCormick scored a career-high 29 points in Flagler College's 77-66 loss to USC Aiken in a Peach Belt Conference women's basketball game Saturday afternoon at Flagler Gymnasium.
USC Aiken improved to 15-9 overall and 9-5 in the Peach Belt. Flagler is now 6-18 overall and 3-11 in conference play.
The Saints took a 27-26 lead in the second quarter after three made free throws from McCormick and
N'Mya Pierce. The Pacers closed the first half on a 13-3 run, which included an 11-0 spurt, to take a 39-30 lead into the locker room.
Flagler was able to whittle away the deficit in the fourth quarter, pulling to within a point (63-62) after a
Carleigh Grimm three-pointer with six minutes left in regulation. USC Aiken followed with a 14-2 run to put the game out of reach.
Pierce finished with 13 points and
Taylor Gardner added 10 points and eight rebounds for the Saints. Grimm contributed eight points, five rebounds and had two blocked shots.
Annalise Malone led five Pacers in double figure scoring with 18 points. Breanna Gustave added 17 points, five rebounds and five assists. Emily Trushel finished with 11 points seven rebounds and four steals. Jentri Worley recorded a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds. Hailey Unger tacked on 10 points.
Flagler heads to Morrow, Georgia on Wednesday to face Clayton State University at 5:30 p.m.
