MELBOURNE, Fla. – Florida Tech scored the last eight points to defeat Flagler College in a non-conference women's basketball game Monday afternoon at the Florida Tech Holiday Classic at the Charles and Ruth Clemente Center.
Florida Tech snapped a five-game losing streak and improved to 4-9. Flagler is now 4-5. The Saints wrap up the tournament tomorrow against Talladega College at 2 p.m.
Flagler trailed by as many as 15 points early in the fourth quarter, but rallied to pull to within three (60-57) after a
Se'Lah Reddick transition layup with 1:51 left to go. Florida Tech's Dalma Ehmann answered the run with a fastbreak layup of her own to ignite the Panthers run. Emily Acampora made six free throws to close out the scoring.
Dane Bertolina scored 11 points, grabbed four rebounds, tallied four assists, and had three steals for the Saints.
Destiny McClendon added 11 points, four rebounds, and three steals.
Laney Noreika chipped in with 10 points. Reddick finished with nine points and a game-high nine rebounds.
Acampora came off the bench to score a game-high 13 points for Florida Tech. Tai Roberts added 12 points while Kyandra Poitier had 11 points and seven rebounds. Olivia Stephens grabbed a team-high eight boards.
