MORROW, Ga. –
Sharale McCormick led Flagler College with a game-high 16 points and dished out four assists in a 68-56 win over the University of Virginia's College at Wise at the SAC-PBC Challenge Saturday afternoon at The Loch and Mason Barfield Court.
Both teams leave with a 1-1 record. The Saints host Rollins College on Nov. 15 at 6 p.m. at Flagler Gym.
The Saints took control of the game early, opening on a 12-2 run. They held an 18-8 lead at the end of the first quarter and went into the locker room 10 minutes later with a 33-23 lead.
Flagler used a massive 22-6 run that covered 11:36 in the second half to pull away to a 59-35 advantage.
Destiny McClendon capped the run by making the first of two free throw attempts with 6:25 left to go in the game.
McClendon finished 14 points while
Dane Bertolina recorded the first double-double of the season with 10 points and had a game-high 12 rebounds. She added five assists to her line.
The Saints defense limited the Cavs to 27.3 (18-66) percent shooting from the floor.
Sarah Burton led UVA Wise with 12 points and seven rebounds.
