ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Harry Laing's goal in the 70
th minute was the lone goal of the match as Eckerd College defeated Flagler College 1-0 in a non-conference men's soccer match Saturday night at Johnson Field.
Eckerd improved to 3-4-4 overall while Flagler is now 3-6-4.
Laing fired a shot, off his right foot, from the top right corner of the penalty box and tucked the ball into the top left corner of the goal.
Paul Hansen led Flagler with two shots, one of which was on goal. Luciano Rodriguez led Eckerd with four shots.
Aidan Leak had three saves for the Tritons, but was bailed out in the 77
th minute when a defender saved Hansen's shot.
Ryan Rivas collected three saves for the Saints.
Eckerd outshot Flagler 10-6, but the Saints held a 6-4 edge in corner kicks.
Flagler returns to Peach Belt Conference play with a match against Georgia Southwestern State University on Wednesday at 6 p.m. at Saints Field.
