ST. AUGUSTINE –
Sara Pedraza recorded her first collegiate double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds for Flagler College in an 86-57 loss to Columbus State University in a Peach Belt Conference women's basketball game Wednesday evening at Flagler Gymnasium.
Columbus State won its third consecutive game to improve to 8-3 overall and 2-1 in the Peach Belt. Flagler is now 3-10 overall and 0-3 in league play.
After a
Miracle Parker basket to open the second quarter cut the Saints deficit to three (22-19), Amber Abusbeih sank a three-pointer to spark a 16-6 run by the Lady Cougars, and they would go on to take a 51-30 lead into the half.
Columbus State forced 30 turnovers in the game and cashed those in for 37 points.
Emilia Tenbrock led the Lady Cougars with a game-high 20 points on 7-of-13 shooting from the field, including a perfect 5-for-5 from the free throw line. Abusbeih notched a double-double with 16 points and 10 assists to go along with five steals. Olonna Rawls added 12 points, six rebounds, five assists and three steals. Olivia West came off the bench to score 11 points.
Beka Benge and Parker each scored eight points for Flagler. Pedraza added five assists to her line.
The next game for Flagler is Saturday at USC Aiken at 1:30 p.m.
