AMERICUS, Ga. –
Sharale McCormick and
N'Mya Pierce both recorded double-doubles to help Flagler College put a scare into No. 10 (WBCA Division II Top 25) Georgia Southwestern State University in a 67-52 loss in a Peach Belt Conference women's basketball game Wednesday evening at The Storm Dome.
The Lady 'Canes extended their winning streak to 10 games and improved to 13-1 overall and 5-0 in the Peach Belt. Flagler is now 3-12 overall and 0-5 in conference play.
The game was tied at 18-all after the first quarter of play, but Georgia Southwestern gained some separation thanks to a 9-2 run that closed out the first half as GSW took a 33-26 lead. The Lady 'Canes never trailed the rest of the way.
McCormick scored 12 points and grabbed a career-high 13 rebounds for the Saints. Pierce added 10 points and 11 rebounds.
Miracle Parker tallied a career-high 13 points.
Kayla Langley led Georgia Southwestern with a game-high 18 points. Jolicia Williams added 17 points while Jacquelyn Levay finished with nine points and 10 rebounds.
The Lady 'Canes were limited to a 37.3 percent shooting performance from the field, but scored 18 points off 16 Flagler turnovers.
Flagler hosts Young Harris College on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at Flagler Gymnasium.
