DAHLONEGA, Ga. — Nineteenth-ranked University of North Georgia topped the Flagler College softball team in a Peach Belt Conference doubleheader, 8-2 and 7-1, at the Haines & Carolyn Hill Stadium Saturday afternoon.
The Saints (25-24, 9-14 PBC) aim to end their regular season on the winning side as they finish the three-game series versus the Nighthawks (39-15, 19-4) tomorrow at 11 a.m.
Flagler tallied the first run in each game; however, the Saints couldn't take advantage. In each game,
Olivia Parker contributed to a run scored as she hit a home run in game one and followed it up with a first-inning, RBI-groundout.
The single-season home run leader in
Kyleigh Taylor hit a homer in her first at-bat of the day before Parker matched it with one of her own in the second inning to come within a run. Flagler wasn't able to tally another game-one run as seven of the nine batters recorded a hit.
In game two, Parker's RBI-groundout was the lone run to score as Kristen Davis (W, 13-4) limited the Saints to four hits.
Paige Maseda was the lone Saint to have two hits as Parker and
Alyssa Velez had the others.
