ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – The Flagler College women's lacrosse team will compete in its first Gulf South Conference Women's Lacrosse Championship this weekend.
The first-year program will enter as the third seed following a 10-7 record, and 4-2 in the GSC. The two teams met earlier in the year at Lee, with the Flames coming out on top of that contest, 15-9.
The Saints will begin the tournament with a rematch against Lee University, the two seed, on Friday, April. 29th at 4 p.m at Charger Park. The University of Alabama in Huntsville, the one seed, will be hosting the tournament this weekend.
The Saints have used a balanced offensive attack to get this far, with five different players recording 20 or more goals. Leading the way has been
Madison Daziel, who has netted 30 goals to go along with six assists for 36 points.
Kate Piscopo has contributed 24 goals and 11 assists in 14 games.
Jordan Green is third member of the 30-point club, scoring 24 goals and assisting on 11 of her teammate's goals.
Defensively,
Kaelyn Figueras has anchored the zone while starting in all 17 games, while causing 13 turnovers and picking up 30 ground balls.
