MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – Georgia College swept a Peach Belt Conference doubleheader from Flagler College Saturday afternoon at John Kurtz Field. The Bobcats rallied to win the opener 7-5 and took the second game, 4-3.
Georgia College improved to 20-12 overall and 9-6 in the Peach Belt. Flagler left with a 16-18 overall record and a 9-6 mark in the conference.
In the opener, the Saints rallied from an early 4-0 deficit to take the lead in the seventh inning.
Myles Colangelo hit a two-run single to put Flagler ahead 5-4.
The Bobcats tied the game in the bottom of the seventh and scored two runs in the eighth on a pair of wild pitches.
Aston Sturgell (1-1) picked up the win in relief. He tossed two scoreless innings and allowed just one hit.
K.C. Brown paced the 14-hit attack going 3-for-4 with a double, two runs batted in and he scored a run. Brandon Bellflower collected three singles and scored a run.
Gabriel Partridge (2-3) took the loss for Flagler. He worked in the eighth and allowed two runs on three hits.
Seth Wysocki started and tossed seven innings. He retired nine batters on flyouts and another nine on ground outs.
John Fiorenza led the Saints as he went 3-for-4 with a double.
Ashton Thomas finished with a pair of singles and drove in a run.
Tyler Keith belted a solo home run.
In game two, the Saints scored a pair of runs in the third only to see the Bobcats answer with three runs in the bottom half of the frame.
Fiorenza led off the fourth with a single to right field and eventually came around to score on a ground out to tie the game at 3-all.
But Ben Tuten hit a solo home run in the bottom of the fourth and the Saints could not get the equalizer in the remaining three innings.
Brennan Crooms (3-2) allowed three runs and scattered nine hits over 4 1/3 innings of work. Luc Scudellari finished the last two innings and allowed just two hits to earn his third save of the season.
Davian Garcia (0-1) tossed 3 1/3 innings in relief and took the loss. He allowed a run on one hit.
Jaiden Warde hit three singles while Fiorenza added two more and he scored a run.
Mason Gray went 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored.
Trey Newland finished with a pair of base hits and he scored a run.
Flagler hosts rival Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University on Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Drysdale Field.
