No. 10 men's tennis sweeps No. 32 Sailfish out to sea

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – No. 10 Flagler College took care of business Sunday morning, sweeping No. 32 Palm Beach Atlantic University in a non-conference match at the Mitch Gornto Tennis Center.

The Saints improve to 9-4 on the year, while the Sailfish drop to 5-6. Flagler previously defeated PBA at home, 6-1, on March 13.

For the sixth time this year, Flagler secured the opening doubles point, but PBA made them work for it. Flagler claimed victory at first doubles behind a 6-1 victory by Oscar Del Granado and Philipp Lemken. PBA notched a win at third doubles, defeating Petr Cervinka and Cedric Holzmann, 6-1

All eyes shifted to second doubles and Flagler's team of Nikita Tatyanin and Jagger Ong-Patzwald finished off doubles with a 6-0 victory for the duo's sixth consecutive win to give Flagler the 1-0 lead headed into singles play.

Singles play was kicked off with Jacopo Denitto as he continued to stay undefeated in singles play this spring (7-0), rolling to a 6-1, 6-1 victory. Cervinka was the next to finish, easily dispatching his opponent in route to a 6-2, 6-2 victory for his ninth win of the year.

Holzmann made his debut at fourth singles today while posting a 6-3, 6-3 victory for his eighth singles' win of the spring.

Del Grando followed Holzmann's victory up with his fourth straight win, getting revenge against Roberto Binaghi, who defeated Del Grando in three sets when the two teams met earlier in the month, winning in straight sets 7-5, 6-3.

Second singles saw Tatyanin downing No. 51 Jorge Santamaria 6-2, 7-6 (7) for the junior's first win against a nationally-ranked opponent on the year.

No. 61 Lemken completed the sweep, coming away with a three-set victory in his match at fifth singles, 3-6, 7-6 (7), 10-2.

Flagler returns home for the team's second match against a top-10 team in seven days, welcoming No. 1 Columbus State University to the Flagler Tennis Center for a PBC match at 1:30 p.m.
