ST. AUGUSTINE — It was another good day for the Flagler College women's tennis team as the Saints secured their fourth straight 6-1 victory, with this one being over the University of Montevallo at the Flagler Tennis Center Monday.
Flagler (6-4) took all the momentum into singles after the duos of
Anika Nissen/
Alessandra Traub,
Eden Schlagenhauf/
Luisa Hrda, and
Florencia Massardo Brain/
Addison Skye Breunich won in that order. Massardo Brain and Breunich edged out a tie-breaking victory on court three for the sweep and their second straight win, while the twos (Nissen/Traub) won their third in a row and the ones (Schlagenhauf/Hrda) ran away with their sixth straight.
Those winning streaks extended into singles. Eighth-ranked Hrda jumpstarted play with her fourth straight victory (6-2, 6-2); meanwhile, Nissen secured her seventh consecutive win (6-4, 6-1) and Traub clinched the match with her fourth straight win (6-3, 6-4).
Massardo Brain battled back from a set-one loss to pocket her third win (2-6, 6-2, 7-5) in a row, and
Gianna Rosato followed as she built on her first collegiate win with another in her 6-3, 6-2 victory. The Falcons (3-5) won one point on court two as Cyba Ozzor edged Schlagenhauf in a three-set thriller.
Flagler will be back in action Friday, March 25 in an exhibition match with Eastern Florida State at 2 p.m., while the Saints will resume conference play versus foe Columbus State University Friday, April 1 at 10 a.m.
