Rosato wins first match as Saints roll past No. 40 Augusta

ST. AUGUSTINE — The Flagler College women's tennis team jumpstarted Peach Belt Conference play the right way as the Saints rolled past 40th-ranked Augusta University, 6-1, at the Flagler Tennis Center Saturday afternoon.

The victory marked the third straight for Flagler (5-4, 1-0 PBC) as the Saints handed the Jaguars (11-2, 0-2) their first loss since February 23, which was also a PBC match at North Georgia.

The 21st-ranked duo of Luisa Hrda and Eden Schlagenhauf won their fifth straight in its bagel win, while the third doubles pair – Florencia Massardo Brain and Addison Skye Breunich — secured the doubles point with their first win together in two tries, 6-3.

Flagler built on the doubles' point victory as Massardo cruised to her straight-set, 6-0 and 6-1, win for the fifth singles' player's second in a row. The Jags' took a point on court two when No. 57 Julia De Macedo defeated Eden Schlagenhauf, 6-2 in both sets. From there, the Saints won the next four points.

Gianna Rosato battled back from an opening-set loss to win her first collegiate match, 2-6, 6-3, and 6-3, while Anika Nissen won her sixth straight in a 6-3 and 6-4 victory on court four. Also extending their winning steaks was No. 8-ranked Luisa Hrda with a tie-breaking second set to defeat 27th-ranked Caludia Borbon for her third straight straight; meanwhile, Alessandra Traub pocketed her fourth win in a row on court three as she gritted out the three-set win.

The Saints will be back in action Monday morning when they welcome the University of Montevallo for an 11 a.m. match at the Flagler Tennis Center.
