ST AUGUSTINE, Fla. –
Tyler Douglass netted three goals as Flagler College fell to Lynn University Wednesday afternoon at the Flagler Lacrosse Field.
Flagler stays on the hunt for its first win, falling to 0-8. Lynn improved to 2-5 on the season.
The first half was a closely contested opening 30 minutes, with Flagler maintaining a lead for the majority of the half, taking an 8-7 lead into the break.
In the third quarter, Lynn took a 9-8 lead by scoring the first two goals of the half. Following the second goal, Flagler faceoff man
Jake Griffin won the duel, picked up the ground ball and took it himself down the middle of the field to tie the game at 9 for his first goal as a Saint.
Following Griffin's goal, Lynn responded with three goals of its own to open up a 12-9 lead halfway through the third quarter. Flagler brought the lead down to one to end the period, thanks to goals from
Thomas Pritchard and
Drew Flagg, who scored man-up.
Lynn pulled away in the fourth quarter, scoring eight unanswered goals.
Geraint Shaw scored a man-up goal with 2:53 left, but that was all the offense the Saints could muster in the quarter.
Eight different Saints found the back of the net. Pritchard and Shaw each had two, while
Dylan Wilson,
Ty Tom,
Willy Bateman, Flagg and Griffin each provided one. Tom dished out a season-high four assists and caused two turnovers. Griffin won 14 of 28 faceoffs and scooped up 10 ground balls.
The Fighting Knights were led by Joseph Michalski and Matthew Ilchuk, who each scored five goals and assisted on three of their teammates.
Flagler hits the road for its next contest against No. 3 University of Tampa on Tuesday, March. 22 with the game set to start at 4 p.m.
