ALBANY, Ga. – Four Flagler College players had multiple hits in a 12-6 win over Albany State University in a non-conference baseball game Wednesday evening at the ASU West Campus Stadium.
Flagler improved to 12-10 while Albany State had its five-game winning streak snapped and dropped to 11-5.
The Saints trailed 3-2 going into the top of the third inning.
Trey Newland led off with a walk and scored on
Mason Gray's double to right to tie the game. Two batters later,
Ashton Thomas hit a double to left to plate Gray with the go-ahead run.
Flagler scored five runs in the fifth inning to put the game out of reach.
Luke Welborn hit a two-run double and
John Fiorenza followed with a double to score Welborn.
Steven Reiss (2-0) tossed five innings in relief to earn the win. He allowed three unearned runs on six hits and struck out three batters.
Anthony Nofi closed the last three innings to pocket his second save of the year. He surrendered one run on two hits.
Gray went 2-for-4 with the double, one run batted in and he scored four runs. Garcia went 2-for-4 with a double, two RBI and he scored a run. Fiorenza hit a double, a solo home run, scored twice and knocked in two runs.
Jaiden Warde singled twice and drove in a run.
Luke Jester (1-2) took the loss for the Golden Rams. He tossed three innings and allowed four runs, three of which were earned, and three hits.
Lachlan Ross went 3-for-5 with a double, a run scored and two RBI. Malik Bell singled twice.
Flagler continues on the road where it will face No. 20 (
Collegiate Baseball Newspaper Division II Top 30) Young Harris College for a three-game Peach Belt Conference series starting on Friday at 6 p.m.
