ST. AUGUSTINE--
Sharale McCormick recorded her first double-double of the season with 16 points and 10 rebounds, both season highs, to lead Flagler College to a hard fought 70-67-win Saturday afternoon in a Peach Belt Conference women's basketball game against Columbus State University at Flagler Gymnasium.
Flagler improved to 11-11 overall and 5-7 in PBC play. Columbus State dropped to 12-10 overall and 5-7 in conference play. The Saints also completed the regular season sweep of the Lady Cougars for the first time since the 2018-2019 season.
"Columbus State plays so hard and made this a tough game for 40 minutes," said head coach
Mo Smith. "This was a hard-fought victory by our ladies tonight."
McCormick's layup with 3:30 left in the game tied the score at 62-all.
Amuk Tong got the go-ahead bucket for the Saints with 2:49 to give the Saints the lead for good (64-62).
McCormick scored seven of the Saints' final 10 points to secure the win.
Tori Pearce notched her 10
th double-double of the campaign, supplying 12 points, 12 rebounds to go along with seven assists and five steals. Mathis contributed 12 points and six rebounds.
Keegan Brace contributed a season high nine points while shooting a perfect 4-4 from the field.
For the Lady Cougars, Olonna Rawls lead the way with 14 points and six rebounds. Chrisalyn Boston pulled down a game-high 18 boards to go along with 11 points and four rejections.
The Saints return to action on Wednesday, Feb. 9 when they travel north to Americus, Georgia for a PBC matchup with the Lady Hurricanes of Georgia Southwestern State University at 5:30 p.m.
