MELBOURNE, Fla. –
Drew Flagg recorded three goals as Flagler College was defeated by Florida Tech, 17-6, at Panther Field Saturday afternoon.
The Saints continue to search for the program's first win as they fall to 0-3 overall. The Panthers improved to 2-2.
It was a close contest at the end of the first period, with the score knotted up at two.
Thomas Pritchard scored the first goal for the Saints and
Drew Flagg scored a goal following a Florida Tech penalty, with
Geraint Shaw assisting.
Entering the second quarter, Florida Tech rattled off four consecutive goals in the first two and a half minutes of the quarter to give the home team a 6-2 lead. While Pritchard was able to stop the bleeding with 9:31 left in the quarter by cutting the deficit back down to three, 6-3, that was as close as it got as the Panthers closed the half with five unanswered goals, making the score 11-3.
Flagg ended the day with three goals, Pritchard with two and Shaw had one.
Jack Newell recorded his first point as a Saint when he assisted on Shaw's goal.
Eleven different Panthers recorded goals this afternoon with Bennett Duffy leading the charge with four. Justin Williams added three of his own.
Flagler returns to action for its first game at the Flagler Lacrosse Field when the Saints host the Florida Southern College Moccasins Saturday, Feb. 26 at 2 p.m.
