ST AUGUSTINE – The Flagler College men's lacrosse team played its long-awaited inaugural home game at Flagler Lacrosse and Intramural Field Saturday afternoon, falling to Florida Southern, 22-4.
The Saints continue to work towards the illustrious first win in program history as drop to 0-4, while Florida Southern improves to 4-2.
The Saints played a strong first half, scoring the first two goals of the game with
Ty Tom netting both. Florida Southern responded with three goals of its own to take a 3-2 lead, going into the second quarter.
Flagler hung with the Mocs for the entirety of the second quarter as
Tyler Douglass knotted the score at 3-all, two minutes in. Following a
Drew Flagg goal to respond to a pair by the Mocs, the Saints entered halftime down, 6-4.
Coming out of the half, Florida Southern took control. The Mocs' defense kept the Saints off the board in the second half, holding them to just eight shots in the half.
The Mocs were paced by Thomas Frank, who posted seven goals and handed out two assists. Jeff Atlas scored six times as well.
The Saints stay at home for a matchup with Davenport on Tuesday, March 2 at 7 p.m.
