TEMPE, Ariz. — In the first regular-season national rankings, the Flagler College men's tennis team debuted at No. 18 in the ITA Top 25 Coaches Poll, the association announced Thursday.

It didn't take long for first-year head coach Jonas Piibor and his Saints to enter the conversation. On Saturday, Flagler stunned then fourteenth-ranked Auburn University at Montgomery to open the season in impressive fashion behind a 7-0 victory. The Saints followed it up with another in-region victory, defeating Florida Southern College, 6-1, Wednesday evening.

The Saints (2-0) are one of four Peach Belt Conference teams in the rankings, joining newly top-ranked Columbus State University, No. 10 Lander University and No. 11 the University of North Georgia.

Flagler has been led by a trio of returners Nikita Tatyanin, Philipp Lemken and Cedric Holzmann — while three newcomers —Oscar Del Granado, Petr Cervinka and Jagger Ong-Patzwald — have shaped the mold of the top six singles players as well as gelling in doubles.

The Saints will be back in action Saturday when they travel to Rollins College for a 3 p.m. match.
