AIKEN, S.C. –
Jaziana Mathis scored a team-high 14 points as Flagler College was defeated by the University of South Carolina Aiken 85-50 in a Peach Belt Conference women's basketball game Saturday afternoon at the Convocation Center.
USC Aiken snapped a six-game losing streak to improve to 8-14 overall and 4-10 in the Peach Belt. Flagler is now 11-13 overall and 5-9 in conference play.
The game was close early as there were six ties and three lead changes in the first quarter. Both teams struggled in the second quarter as USC Aiken shot 18.8 percent from the floor and Flagler made 5.6 percent of its shots. The Pacers took a 31-21 lead into the break.
USC Aiken went on a 15-4 run in the third quarter to pull away.
Tori Pearce recorded her team-leading 13
th double-double of the season with 13 points and 12 rebounds. She added five assists.
The Saints were limited to a season-low 27.1 shooting percentage from the field in the game.
Emily Trushel came off the bench to score a game high 23 points for USC Aiken. She made four 3-pointers. Chidinma Okafor recorded a double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds. Grace Crawford tacked on 15 points while Allycia Harris contributed 13 points and eight rebounds.
Flagler hosts Clayton State University on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. at the Flagler Gymnasium.
