SAINT LEO, Fla. – Flagler College's
Sharale McCormick scored 15 points and grabbed six rebounds while
Beka Benge added a career-high 13 points in a 72-41 loss at Saint Leo University Friday afternoon at the Marion Bowman Activities Center.
Saint Leo improved to 9-3 while Flagler is now 3-9.
The Saints held a 27-22 lead at the half and a 29-21 advantage with 9:50 left to go in the third quarter. The Lions followed with a 20-2 run over the next 4:33 to take a 41-31 lead after an Amanda Ulrich three-pointer. Saint Leo closed the game on an 18-0 run.
Taylor Gardner grabbed a team-high eight rebounds for Flagler.
Ulrich led three Saint Leo players in double-figures with 17 points and she added four assists. Kiki McIntyre tacked on 16 points and four steals while Alex Button provided 15 points, eight rebounds and three steals. Jumoke Adaramoye grabbed a game-high 18 rebounds.
The Lions blocked eight shots and forced 18 turnovers.
Flagler returns to Peach Belt Conference play on Wednesday (Jan. 4) as Columbus State University visits Flagler Gymnasium for a 5:30 p.m. tip.
