ST. AUGUSTINE –
Jordan Berglin led Flagler College with 17 kills and
Molly Boyd added 11 more in a 3-2 (20-25, 25-20, 25-20, 11-25, 13-15) loss to the University of South Carolina Aiken in a Peach Belt Conference volleyball match Sunday afternoon at Flagler Gymnasium.
Flagler ends the regular season with a 15-9 overall record and a 9-6 mark in the Peach Belt. The Saints will be the No. 3 seed in the PBC Tournament, which starts Thursday. USC Aiken finishes with a 17-12 record and a 6-9 mark in conference play. The Pacers will be the No. 5 seed.
Berglin finished with a .238 hitting percentage as she had seven errors on 42 swings. Boyd added six total blocks to her line and she hit an efficient .292.
Kennedy Muff tallied 36 assists while
Edie Lamoreaux led the defense with a match-high 18 digs.
Logan Garcia had four total blocks.
Emily Lammers had a match-high 23 kills for the Pacers. She hit .405 and had only six errors on 42 swings. Anna Sommer added 18 kills while Kaitlyn Rodriguez recorded a double-double with 12 kills and 10 digs. Mallory Barash also had a double-double as she tallied 52 assists and collected 15 digs.
The two teams split the first four sets, which featured 27 ties and 13 lead changes. The fifth set would be just as tight with eight ties and three lead changes. A triple-block by Garcia,
Audrey Simmons and
Cecilia Robert tied the score at 13. But a kill by Rodriguez coupled with a Flagler hitting error ended the match.
Flagler will take on Young Harris College on Thursday at Christenberry Fieldhouse in Augusta, Georgia. USC Aiken will face Georgia College in the other first round match on Thursday. Times will be released Monday.
