Saints advance to the regional final after five-set win

WINGATE, N.C. – Jordan Berglin finished with 14 kills and 12 digs while Logan Garcia had 13 kills and six total blocks as Flagler College edged Augusta University 3-2 (25-20, 25-22, 26-28, 17-25, 15-9) in the first semifinal of the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional Saturday afternoon at Cuddy Arena.

Flagler, the No. 6 seed, improved to 20-9 overall while Augusta, the No. 2 seed, ended its season with a 25-8 mark. The Saints will face the winner of the Lander University-Wingate University match tomorrow at 3 p.m.

Flagler raced out to a 10-5 lead in the fifth set and ended the match with three consecutive kills by Berglin. She had five kills and seven errorless swings in that set for a red-hot .714 hitting percentage. Garcia was flawless in the fifth set with four kills on four swings. The Saints hit .520 in the final set as they had 13 kills on 25 errorless swings.

Berglin hit .345 in the match as she only had four errors on 29 swings. Garcia hit at a .478 clip with just two errors on 23 swings. Audrey Simmons added 11 kills, hit .360 and had three total blocks. Cecilia Robert supplied 10 kills. Kennedy Muff notched another double-double with 44 assists and 11 digs. Edie Lamoreaux collected a match-high 16 digs.

Jazmyn Wheeler led Augusta with 16 kills and 15 digs. Kayli Cleaver had 13 kills and three total blocks while Madelyn Eden and Alexis Diaz-Infante each finished with 11 kills. Samantha Zittrauer tallied 42 assists.

NOTES: This is the 19th time since 2001 that the program has won 20 or more matches…This is the fifth time the Saints have played for a regional title…Flagler is 3-1 in regional finals, and all have been against Wingate…Flagler's last regional title was in 2017 when it swept Wingate at Flagler Gym.
