Saints have three golfers finish in top 10 as the team finishes in second

ORLANDO, Fla. – Franco Piovano, Felix Villamil and Nic Eberhard all finished in the top 10 to help lead the Flagler College men's golf team to a second place with a 5-over par 869 (288-287-294) at the McDonough Cup, which concluded Tuesday (Nov. 1) afternoon at the Rio Pinar Country Club (par 72; 7,001 yards).

The 869 was the best 54-hole score for the Saints this fall. 

Piovano and Villamil finished in a logjam at third place with a 1-under 215. Piovano shot a 2-over 74 in the final round and Villamil had a 3-over 75. Piovano's 40 pars was tied for second amongst the field while Villamil had 36 pars to go along with 10 birdies.

Rollins College led the 10-team field with a 14-under 850 (279-288-283). The Saints finished 19 strokes back and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University finished in third place with a 6-over 870 (290-287-293).

Topping the 67-man field was Warut Wongrungroj of Rollins. He carded an 11-under 205 (64-72-69). He had a tournament-best 15 birdies. Cade Coffey of Palm Beach Atlantic University finished in second place with a 2-under 214 (72-70-72).

Nic Eberhardt had his first top 10 finish as he carded an even par 216 (70-75-71) to finish in a tie for ninth place. Abe Forsyth, playing as an individual, finished in a tie for 26th place with a 6-over 222 (79-69-74). Trey Wilson shot a 2-over 74 in the final round and finished in a tie for 33rd place with an 8-over 224 (74-76-74). Joel Petersson tied for 38th place with a 9-over 225 (74-75-76) to round out the Flagler golfers.

The fall season is complete for the Saints as they look forward to returning to the course in February.
