MORROW, Ga.—
Tori Pearce recorded her ninth double-double of the year with 16 points and 10 rebounds as Flagler College fell to Clayton State University 64-62 in a Peach Belt Conference women's basketball Wednesday night at The Loch and Mason Barfield Court.
The Saints are now 10-9 overall and 4-5 in conference play. The Lakers improved to 9-7 and 2-5 in the PBC.
Trailing 50-42 to start the fourth quarter, the Lakers went on a 13-3 run to regain the lead. Clayton State maintained the lead until the 19-second mark when Pearce tied the game with a three-pointer.
Pearce blocked a three-point attempt with four seconds left, but Audrey McElhaney grabbed an offensive rebound and laid it in as time expired.
Sharale McCormick posted 12 points and five rebounds while
Sadie Russell added 11 points and five rebounds.
Taylor Gardner scored eight-of-her-10 points in the second quarter. Pearce added five steals and two blocks.
Clayton State was led by Timi'a Swanson, who posted 19 points and nine boards while McElhaney added 18 points and nine rebounds.
Flagler returns to action on Saturday, Jan. 29 when they host the No.5 (WBCA Division II Top 25) Lander University at Flagler Gymnasium at 1:30 p.m.
