Pearce double-double not enough against Young Harris

YOUNG HARRIS, Ga.— Tori Pearce recorded her fifth double-double of the season with 13 points and 13 rebounds as the Flagler College was defeated by Young Harris College 53-41 in a Peach Belt Conference women's basketball matchup Saturday afternoon at YHC Recreation and Fitness Center.

Following the loss, Flagler dropped to 9-7 overall and 3-3 in PBC play. Young Harris improved to 10-5 overall and 2-4 in conference play.

Young Harris jumped out to an early lead in the first quarter courtesy of a 10-3 run which was started by a pair of free throws from Carly Withers to give the Mountain Lions a 16-9 lead.

The Saints managed to cut the lead down to two halfway through the third quarter by the way of a Sadie Russell three to cap off a 9-0 run.

Flagler entered the final quarter down six (38-32). The Mountain Lions got the lead back up to double digits less than two minutes into the quarter, a deficit that Flagler would not be able to overcome.

Pearce tied her career-high with six steals. Jaziana Mathis would contribute nine points and six rebounds.

For the Mountain Lions, Mackenzie Johnson lead the way with a game-high 31 points and 18 rebounds.

Flagler heads to Dahlonega for a matchup with the No. 11 ranked (WBCA Division II Top 25) University of North Georgia on Monday.
