Colangelo’s three-run homer not enough for Saints on Sunday

3/14/2021 6:32:00 PM

Box Score ST. AUGUSTINE – Flagler College's Myles Colangelo belted a three-run home run in the bottom of the sixth inning to tie the game, but Young Harris College scored five runs in the final two innings to pull out an 8-4 win Sunday afternoon at Drysdale Field.

Young Harris improved to 7-6 overall and 7-5 in the Peach Belt. Flagler is now 5-11 overall and 4-7 in conference play.

The Mountain Lions broke the 3-all tie in the eighth inning as Tucker Greer led off with a double down the left field line and he scored on Dahlton Cash's single to the left-center field gap.

That chased Flagler starter Colt Mink (1-3) who had gone seven innings. Ryan Ayrey came on in relief and retired the first two batters.

However, three straight singles produced a pair of insurance runs for Young Harris.

Flagler was able to get a run back in the home half of the eighth, but a two-run double by Rome Wallace in the ninth pushed the Mountain Lion advantage to 8-4.

McLain Harris (2-2) earned the win in relief. He allowed one run on one hit in three innings of work.

Greer went 4-for-5 with a double and two runs scored. Cash finished 3-for-4 with a home run, two runs scored, and four runs batted in.

Mink allowed four earned runs on seven hits and he struck out six batters.

Colangelo went 2-for-3 with the home run.

The Saints begin a 10-game road swing starting on March 17 as they visit Albany (Ga.) State University at 4 p.m.
