ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. — On Thursday, the Flagler College women's tennis team moved from No. 10 to No. 9 in the Oracle/ITA National rankings. Then on Friday, the Saints won their first match as the ninth-ranked team in their Peach Belt Conference-opening, 6-1, win over Augusta University at the Flagler Tennis Center.
 
"Today, our girls were able to bounce back from a tough loss Wednesday," Flagler head coach Rodrigo Peubla said. "We played at a high level and our girls were able to take care of business on each court. We are looking forward to a great test tomorrow versus a well-coached Georgia College team."
 
The Saints (6-3, 1-0 PBC) will be right back in action Saturday morning as Georgia College comes to St. Augustine, Florida, for a 10 a.m. first serve.
 
Due to an injured Jaguar, Flagler received a win by default in both doubles and singles. Even with those points, the Saints were dominate across the board.
 
The No. 1 doubles (Alessandra Traub/Florencia Massardo Brain) and No. 2 doubles (Amelie Vossgaetter/Anika Nissen) took care of business to take the doubles point. In singles, Eden Schlagenhauf and Nissen kept winning as they took points on the No. 1 and No. 3 courts, respectively, for their fourth consecutive win in straight sets. From there, Vossgaetter and Massardo got back on track with wins on courts No. 4 and No. 5 in that order. Traub lost a heart-breaking, three-set loss on the No. 2 court.
