VALDOSTA, Ga.  – The Flagler College men's cross country team had six runners finish in the top 15 to help the Saints place second at the Valdosta State University Border Clash (7.25K), which was held Friday evening at Freedom Park.

Flagler tallied 60 points and was led by Asad Bashir (25:14.7) and Connor Norton (25:14.8). They finished in 10^th and 11^th places, respectively, and led a group of six Flagler runners.

"The men executed very well today," said Brian Beil, Flagler head cross country coach. "We planned to even split as a pack and they did just that. It's extremely early, but so far so good."

The University of Tampa led the 11-team field with 39 points, thanks to four members of the team finishing in the top two 10.

Finishing atop the 91-man field, for the second year in a row, was Trevor Kattenberg of Tampa with a time of 23:43.7. He edged Brishen House of Valdosta State who finished with a time of 24:11.3. Logan Kraus of Valdosta State finished third at 24:30.1.  

Justin Greene (25:14.9), Marcus Graham (25.14.9), Evan Fuller (25:15.1), and Joel Nesi (25:15.1) all followed Norton.

John Decker finished in 45^th place at 27:25.2 while Michael Hayeck finished in 63^rd place with a time of 29:24.9.

Next up for the men's cross country team will be the Mountain Dew Invitational on Sept. 14 at 7:55 a.m. in Gainesville, Florida.
