North Georgia rallies past Flagler

DAHLONEGA, Ga. – A three-run home run in the bottom of the seventh inning by Chase Sudduth wiped out a 2-0 Flagler College lead and the University of North Georgia went on to win 5-2 in a Peach Belt Conference baseball game Sunday afternoon at Bob Stein Stadium.

North Georgia improved to 9-2 overall and 2-1 in the Peach Belt. Flagler fell to 7-8 overall and 2-4 in conference play.

A lead-off walk issued by Flagler reliever Ethan Jones (0-2) in the home half of the seventh got the rally started for the Nighthawks. The next two batters were retired and then another batter drew a walk to set-up the three-run homer by Sudduth.

Jett Walsh entered the game for the Saints and was greeted with a single and a double to put two more runners in scoring position. Nick Clarno followed with a single down the left field line to drive in both runs.

Flagler got both of its runs in the fifth inning on solo home runs by Sean Lawlor and JaKobi Dasher.

Parker Morrison (2-0) tossed four shutout innings and fanned five batters to earn the win. He allowed just two hits.

Sudduth went 2-for-3 with a double and the home run. He had three runs batted in. Bill LeRoy added two singles.

Jones allowed three runs on two hits in five innings of work. He struck out five batters and walked three.

Flagler opens a three-game homestand next weekend against Lander University. The first game of the series will be Friday at 6 p.m. at Drysdale Field.
