Box Score ST. AUGUSTINE – The No. 45 (Oracle/ITA Division II) Flagler College women's tennis team defeated Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University 7-2 in a non-conference women's tennis match Thursday afternoon at the Flagler Tennis Center.

Flagler improved to 9-9 overall while Embry-Riddle fell to 6-13.

The Saints took all three doubles matches to start the day. Lizanne Jinkertz and Camila Ramazzini downed Maria Turrillo and Kathryn Bock 8-5 at No. 1 and then Alessandra Traub and Felicitas Runkel out-lasted Sabrina Ehrenfort and Lydia Carter 9-7 to complete the sweep.

In singles play, Jinkertz, ranked No. 22 in the country, posted a straight-sets win (6-0, 6-0) over Turrillo at No. 1 Jinkertz was honored before the match as the lone senior on this year's roster. Annika Nissen clinched the match for Flagler with a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Carter at No. 6. Runkel and Traub also posted wins.


"It is always nice to come out with a win on Senior Day," said head women's tennis coach Rodrigo Puebla. "Liz finished her home season on a high note. She has been an important part of our group the last three years.

"She has come a long way since her arrival to Flagler," added Puebla. "I couldn't be more proud as a coach."  

Flagler concludes the regular season this weekend with a pair of road matches against No. 28 University of North Georgia (Saturday) and No. 34 Young Harris College (Sunday).
