Box Score ST. AUGUSTINE – Dom DeVille's three-run home run capped a four-run sixth inning as the University of Montevallo topped No. 24 (
Collegiate Baseball Newspaper Division II Top 30) Flagler College, 7-3, in a Peach Belt Conference baseball game Saturday afternoon at Drysdale Field.
Montevallo evened its record to 13-13 overall and improved to 2-6 in the Peach Belt. Flagler dropped to 18-9 overall and 6-2 in conference play.
The Falcons manufactured their first run of the game. Ryan Brooks led off the third inning with a single to shortstop, was bunted over to second and took third on a fly out. He scored on Matthew Furuto's single through the left side of the infield.
In the eighth, leading 5-3, DeVille led off the inning with a single to right field. JD Roberts came on to run for DeVille at first base. A wild pitch and a balk moved Roberts to third and he scored on a two-out squeeze bunt by Collin Dupree.
Kale Latorre (3-2) tossed 6 2/3 innings and scattered nine hits. He allowed three runs, walked one and struck out three. The Falcons used three more pitchers in relief, and the last, Colton Nussel, recorded his first save of the season after getting the last two outs of the game.
DeVille finished the game 2-for-2 with the home run and three runs batted in. Chad Wagner collected a pair of singles and Furuto singled and doubled while collecting one RBI.
Dustin Dye (2-3) took the loss on the hill for the Saints. He tossed five-plus innings. He left with two runners aboard in the sixth and a 2-1 lead. Both runners scored and gave Montevallo the lead, one it would not relinquish.

MacLain Larson finished up for Flagler.
Dylan Jones went 3-for-5 to pace the 13-hit attack. He had a pair of doubles, scored a run and knocked in another.
Jason Moore singled twice while
Igor Baez went 2-for-5 with a solo home run and two RBI.
Ethan Crout collected two singles.
The Saints stranded 11 runners.
The same two teams meet tomorrow (March 19) at 12 p.m. in the rubber game of the series.
